Enough #4 - Quiet Waters

Just 3 p.m. on this sunny Tuesday afternoon. It's about 45 degrees out, and I had a nice long walk earlier.

What a crazy couple of weeks it's been...

Going to Brattleboro on the 8th and riding with Mike and his friend Alice was kinda cool. The rest of the week, however, not so much. She had promised to show me some techniques for massaging Mike's neck and shoulder, (which are STILL in pain) and while she did "some" work on him, I was never part of it. From both our perspectives, she mostly neglected him/us in favor of other people. Then, when it came to the weekend and I was coming home with Arianna and Tayler... well, let's just say that it didn't go to plan, nor was she right about literally ANYTHING in her rant to me and Mike on Messenger later. At this point, it looks like…

Enough #3 -- He Makes me to lie down in Green Pastures

Almost 4 o'clock on this cool, overcast Friday afternoon. I just realized that I had totally forgotten to mention on my last post that it was my son, Benjamin's, birthday last Saturday. He is a handsome, hard-working 28 yr. old. Pray with me that God renews Ben's heart toward Him. While I raised my kids in Church, he has come to a place of unbelief. Rather than strengthening his faith, he has allowed deeper study to destroy it.

Meanwhile, I ended up with a nice, albeit unplanned period of time with my father on Tuesday afternoon. My oldest was coming back into town with him from visiting my mother and asked if she could borrow a little money. In return, I asked her for a ride to get a money order for my rent. I can usually get one at my regular store, just down the street, but their machine…

Enough - Psalm 23 #2 - I Lack Nothing

Just after 4 p.m. on a relatively warm, partly sunny day. It's like, 45 degrees out!! Nothing new to report just now, so let's get right to it...

Although I just watched and notated this message yesterday, I still made it a point to review for this bit. Down in the middle of his message on January 11th, Pastor Matt spoke momentarily about how our innate longing for belonging can lead us to form relationships where we feel the need to perform for our partner. We feel like we have to seem "perfect" or no one will accept us. We wear masks so that we are not revealing our true selves. This made me think of the Billy Joel song, "Stranger". I'll post it below, as I don't have any worship songs for this message, currently.

Let's read slowly together --

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

Brattleboro Centre - Epiphany

Almost 3:30 on a fairly warm, sunny Thursday afternoon. I just got back a little bit ago from taking my father out to lunch. It got him out of the house, gave us time together, and I had the money, so I decided to treat both of us to seafood. Before we even had a chance to order, my mom called my father, so I got to talk to her for a minute or two as well. It was good, and I told dad that I would make it a point to visit more often. (And I will.)

Since I have to watch and notate the next two CenterPoint messages, I figured it would be productive to do this one today, and watch one of the others tomorrow.

The Meditative Quotation was this -- "The magi, as you know, were wise men --wonderfully wise men -- who brought gifts to…
